WHO WE ARE

ShawnTech Communications, Inc. was established in 1986 to provide reliable telecommunications services and is headquartered in Miamisburg, Ohio. Since 1993, ShawnTech has committed to providing a variety of services to hundreds of correctional facilities across the United States.

ShawnTech first began providing installation and maintenance services to inmate telephone systems. As technology evolved, ShawnTech began to offer integrated solutions to their customers including installation, service, and maintenance of inmate communications technologies (inmate telephone systems, kiosks, video visitation units, tablets) as well as surveillance systems and cellular interdiction systems. Since 2008, ShawnTech has been a leader in the cellular interdiction industry and offers both full managed access systems and mobile managed access solutions including their propriety solution Cell Intel™.

Throughout our 30-year history, ShawnTech has prided itself on providing legendary service to their customers and is committed to improving the safety and security of correctional facilities.     ShawnTech was founded as a telecommunications company.

  • 1993

    Secured first Department of Corrections contract for service and maintenance of inmate telephone systems.

  • 2008

    Invests in R&D- Managed Access Systems (MAS) and build relationships with FCC.

  • 2010

    Completed first Managed Access (MAS) pilot.

  • 2015

    Completed first statewide wireless design and installation for correctional facilities.

  • 2016

    Cell Intel and Cell Detect Active in 4+ States.

  • 2019

    ShawnTech along with Indiana Department of Correction first to achieve the deactivation of cellular account and device.

  • 2020

    Cell Intel and Cell Detect Active in 14+ States.

  • 2021

    Became the first MAS provider to be approved for operator status with GSMA
